…Chestnuts roasting on an open fire….
Christmas decor fills the living. A vinyl record softly plays Nat King Cole in the background. The fireplace across the room is blazing bright while stockings hang along the mantel. The Christmas tree ajar glistens with twinkling lights. Ornaments hang on each branch telling stories from the past.
You lounge on the sofa with eggnog in hand while smelling the holiday-scented candles on the coffee table.
A sigh of relief hits you.
It’s just another Tuesday night, but you can’t help but feel the Christmas magic in the air.
Every year I long to capture the holiday spirit in my home. To feel the nostalgia of my childhood and remember when everything seemed much simpler & less hectic.
The holiday season comes every year, but there’s only so much time to enjoy its offerings. Amongst all the parties and gift buying, the time can fly without noticing.
Creating Christmas magic within my home makes it last a little longer.
It doesn’t have to feel complicated (how nice would that be?).
Simple touches are all you need. See below my simple how-to guide to discover how to create your own Christmas magic.
Real or fake, you can’t go wrong with the classic Christmas staple. The larger image below is a real evergreen. A tree farm sells them on Etsy and will deliver them straight to your door! How convenient?
What good would an evergreen be without some decoration? The tree topper is a must. There are so many options to choose from, but I like to keep it classic with the star. Simple, yet elegant.
Ornaments bring the tree to life. The quantity makes them stand apart from any other Christmas decor. They don’t have to be over-the-top blingy (unless you like that like me). They can be subtle and will still create the same impact.
On my own Christmas tree, many of my ornaments are personal to me. They represent different times in my life, holding specific stories and memories in each one. My parents had these kinds of ornaments growing up. Carrying this tradition into my own home reminds me of my childhood.
Candlesticks are another classic piece. For a little ambiance, put these on your mantel, credenzas, or dining table. They dial up the cozy in any space.
And stockings… come on! They’re so cute. Paired with some candles, your mantel will be complete with Christmas decor.
They can add as much or as little character as you want. For one piece, it can add a ton of personality to the space. It’s a great option to create a big impact with minimal effort.
To complement the tree, wreaths will give that Christmas feel inside or out. A simple wreath like this is a great option to pick if you like to customize its decoration.
I personally love a simple bow on my wreaths. It’s classic & simple. An easy way to add a pop of color to the space. And in velvet?! So elegant.
Last but not least, art will always win. You can’t go wrong with sprinkling them in. These festive ones are so fun.
